Welcome to the Emerald City Sept 2008

I have a new job and moved to Seattle three days ago. I don't know anyone and no one knows me. A place is only as good as the people you surround yourself with so I'm on the hunt for some unique and special people. So far so good. Not one drop of rain yet. The weather has been quite mild. Should I buy a car or not?

Early-winter in JCNJ

Hello everyone, it is cold now! It is officially hat and gloves weather here. No leaving the house without full gear. It isn't that bad because it isn't like I need to be out side for extended periods of time. The trees are so beautiful right now: deep maroon, golden yellow, sage, red, fire orange.. all very beautiful and I wish it would stay like this all winter.

Updates:
-School is good but is getting hard to focus with so much work.
-Work is really stressful for last quarter "sprints" and I can't wait until it's over... April 08ish
-Enjoying some good books, currently reading "I Am Charlotte Simmons" and it is good
-I have made friends with one of my German colleagues and she is going to stay at my house while I'm in SLC
-Going to get my bike in CT and I think I've decided to not observe x-mas again this year. 2nd year in a row. These have something to do with one another because my Christmas gear is in storage in CT and I could go get it. Should I?
-No good tv or films lately. The strike and too busy with work/school to go to watch movies.
-Went to D.C. with my grandparents, dad and brother. It was awesome. So great to experience D.C. with my grandpa who is a vet.
-I'm going to sell my car again - it got broken into last time so I had to postpone. This event also caused me to miss my volunteer orientation and works too busy to take time off to reschedule the orientation. So the hospital is off for now.

Miss everyone.

New Beginnings

I took this picture with my phone, it was a beautiful site.

Fall up to/in to and other interests:

*NYU Film classes - first day 9/20
*Fall Clothes - Considering my fall wardrobe options: cleaning my closet, browsing store windows, etc.
*The University Hospital - Accepted as a volunteer and orientation is Weds 9/19
*TV - I'm excited about the new fall line-up: Oprah, Ellen, The Office, Grey's, Cavemen, Survivor, Amazing Race, Carpoolers, Curb Your Enthusiasm
*Home Search - My lease is up in 6 months and I don't want to keep paying so much for rent.. wouldn't mind paying this much if it was equity. I'm looking at the Rochester County NY area but I have to find a bargain because it isn't incredibly affordable there.
*Friends - Caroline has been a lot of fun to hang out with and I'm glad she's here. We saw 3:10 to Uma on Friday and it was very good.

the opposum

Look at this little opposum that was in our back yard! Cutest little thing. I read about them after I saw this and they are really docile creatures. They freeze when they're scared and if they get even a little hurt, they play dead. I also didn't know that they are primarily vegetarians and can hold lots of babies in their pouch. Cute little thing... biggest predator: CARS 2nd biggest, Owls.

He is soo cool : )

Nashville & Cannon

I'm in Nashville, Tennessee presenting at a sales conference. This is a really fun city. I would definetly like to come back for vacation!

I would compare it to Denver in terms of young people and culture but with a lot more going on. Nashville's sister city is Athens, Greece and my hotel is right by the extention of the Parthenon and it is beautiful! My room looks into Vanderbilt University's football stadium. Litteraly looks directly into the stadium. It would be fun if there was a game while I was here (there isn't). I don't know why I have been near a lot of stadiums lately.. when I was in Seattle a few weeks ago, my meeting at Amazon looked into the Seahawks stadium and there WAS a game going on. That was fun to see.

Here are pictures of Cannon's visit to see me. We had a great time. He is so funny and fun to be around. I hope he comes back!

Connecticut

Here are pictures of my ride to work. I work in Old Saybrook, about 45 minutes from home. As you can see it is a beautiful drive so it is not so bad.

Lost Boys

I really miss this family!!!! I miss my nights talking with Austin or scratching his back as he makes his way out of bed to get ready for school. Then when the coast is clear in comes London to wake me up and lay in bed with me in the morning to talk and tease me.

When London and I would get up to the kitchen we would here little feet coming down the stairs to join us for breakfast. I took a picture of the two of them in their PJ's one morning. See picture above. I also downloaded the song "Breakdown" by Jack Johnson just to remind me of Troy playing the guitar and London singing.

My new job is good. I'm learning a lot. New jobs are hard for me because I realize how much I don't know and I like to think I know everything.
